Message from the 2014 Director of the School of Canadian Studies

Congratulations to the brilliant and industrious students of the Canadian Studies Capstone seminar on the Spring 2014 edition of their on-line journal. Volume 4 of the Capstone Seminar Series features new research by young Canadianists and offers a unique publishing and learning opportunity for our students.

Merci beaucoup to Dr. Anne Trépanier for her continued leadership of this important project. Sincerest thanks to our Visiting Scholar, Dr. Daniel Macfarlane, for his contribution to this volume and to all members of the Editorial Board for their labour. As the student contributors to this edition have learned, scholarly publication is a collective endeavour that relies on the support and critique of our mentors and peers.

I invite you to enjoy these fine student papers that expand the parameters of interdisciplinary scholarship and confirm the vitality of Canadian Studies.

Dr. L. Pauline Rankin
